HO scale Amtrak P42DC Genesis locomotive with DCC and Tsunami2 sound in Phase III livery (number 78). This highly detailed, ready-to-run model recreates the Amtrak Genesis on a home layout, delivering authentic engine sounds, horn, and bell along with realistic lighting for daytime or nighttime operation. Equipped with a Tsunami2 sound decoder and dual speakers, it features LED headlights, ditch lights, and marker lights for convincing signaling on the rails.
Road-number-specific features for 78 include the Phase III as-delivered scheme and a variety of nose configurations, antenna options, and marker-light arrangements. The model is DCC-ready with Quick Plug plug-and-play technology using a 21-pin NMRA connector and McHenry scale knuckle couplers (Kadee-compatible). It rides on a redesigned die-cast frame with a 5-pole skew-wound motor and all-wheel drive for smooth, quiet operation, plus highly detailed underbody elements such as air tanks, air lines, air dryer, and a photo-etched radiator grille. Lighting is fully functional, with LED headlights, operating ditch lights and red marker lights, and in DCC/sound mode the ditch lights alternate with the horn while marker lights remain independently controlled. Minimum radius is 18 inches, with 22 inches recommended for best performance.
