Description
HO scale GATC 2600 Airslide Covered Hopper in GACX/Redpath livery reproduces General American Transportation’s 2,600-cubic-foot airslide hopper. This historic design was created to haul bulk materials that don’t flow easily in standard hoppers, using an air-permeable bottom and air to fluidize the load so it can discharge smoothly through the outlets.
For HO-layout use, the model features authentic detailing such as three body styles, a detailed underbody with outlet piping, and roof hardware including see-through roof walk, round roof hatches, and brake wheel. It rides on machined metal wheels with RP25 contours, is weighted for steady handling, and uses body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers, with accurately painted detailing that captures the era’s look.
